project 1

I started this project searching through as many images as i could find. After that i new i want one of the ferret standing up boldly, and especially that its eyes were visible, one to make contact with the viewer and two because of they're dark fur around his eyes sometimes it was hard to see at all. I went the boring brown motif, as my partner said in class, but i wanted to include the ferrets native lands and really display the beauty they are apart of. I selected the outside border color using the color selection(?) tool and selected the color out of the background image so it would have a nice match, especially since it all needed to be printed. I didnt want to intrupt the image with text so i included it in the border, and it all became more of a design issue when the text was on the bottom, after i made the two symbols black and brownish in stead of black and white...then i decided to put it on the side and it worked better that way to further seperate the text and image. The back i kept very simple, almost plain. I wanted to leave lots of room and not too busy. The $5 coupon is aligned with the text on the front so the person that is utilizing this postcard can cut off they're coupon and still have a nice, uninterrupted image on the other side

Asiatic Lion

my group picked the asiatic lion to be their endangered animal. i pretty much just overlaped layers of different images of lions from google and messed with the layer options. used overlay and lowered the opacity for the font and added more font in the background. then i just went to levels and got the contrast where i wanted it.

asiatic lion

my group did there post card on the asiatic lion and though some did there slogans and logos the same I decided to make my own. I spent a lot of time trying to make it look and really show that the animal is in need but not necessarily force it in someones face. I wanted to use darker colors to really give it that feel and used many different photoshop tools to create this project. I didn't want to over do it though so I tried to not do much on the other side of the postcard... p.s. jeremy is cool.

post card project: I chose to make the bear a bit transparent in order to give the impression that the polar bears are disappearing.

I wanted to really draw in the reader with my content, which led me to my selection of words and image(s). I made the background image gray scale to dull down the mood to give a more serious and depressing feel. Leaving the logo colorful and vibrant was another key feature of the overall image, to show happy or good, and that they're trying to fix things and save those who're in danger.

The back contained the same logo and I wanted to show a completed product with the message implemented. I also changed the coupon around to an online purchase instead of a convention due to convenience and being comfortable with their surroundings.

The image I chose looked like the polar bear was running out of time on a melting iceberg, so I used this as the premise for my slogan. The enlarged translucent image of the stopwatch with its hand in the red adds a sense of urgency.

I chose to keep it simple, I liked that the lion was laying down, and that went along with lyin'/lion. Originaly I was thinking of using a male lion to show the power of them, and that even these deadly mammals are in danger, but in the end I decided on this image, it was solid, got the point across, and mainly thats what you need most. Also I thought the image of the cub would add an "aww" factor. The concept puts the lions in their natural habitat which is something that is being taken from them due to human development. The warm colors I thought gave it a nice effect, and thats typicaly what I asociate lions with. I went along with jeremy's logo and slogan, I thought it was pretty clever so thats one good thing that came from him.
